Cinderella meets THE CRUEL PRINCE in this stand-alone fantasy romance about a human girl and her marriage to the prince of the fae.
She knew her hand in marriage would be sold. She had no idea a fae prince was the buyer.
Katria swore she'd never fall in love. She's seen what "love" means through the cruelty of her family. So when she's married off to the mysterious Lord Fenwood for a handsome price, all Katria wants is a better life than the one she's leaving. Feelings are off the table.
But her new husband makes not falling in love difficult.
As their attraction begins to grow, so too do the oddities within her new life: strange rules, screams in the night, and attacks by fae that Katria never thought were real. When she witnesses a ritual not meant for human eyes, Katria finds herself spirited away to the land of Midscape.
Surviving the fae wilds as a human is hard enough. Katria must survive as a human who accidently pilfered the magic of ancient kings - magic a bloodthirsty king is ready to kill her for in order to keep his stolen throne - and her new husband is the rightful heir in hiding.
The power to save the fae is in her hands. But who will save her from a love she vowed never to feel?
A Dance with the Fae Prince is a complete, *stand-alone novel*, inspired by the tales of Psyche and Eros, as well as Cinderella, with a "happily ever after" ending. It's perfect for romantic fantasy readers who enjoyed of A Court of Silver Flames and An Enchantment of Ravens. A Dance with the Fae Prince features a slow-burn romance, swoon-worthy couple, and steaminess that ranges from simmering to sizzling.
Not being a fan of changing protagonists, I actually really liked ADWTFP. I think it might be because I went in mentally prepared for this.
To me this story was a Cinderella retelling with a Fae twist and it really works! Young girl is constantly put down by the evil stepmother until her Prince Charming comes to the rescue. Except Prince Charming sent the butler rather than him showing up!
Katria’s world is completely changed when her stepmother essentially sells her off to Lord Fenwood. In her new home, she’s given more freedom than she ever had in her family home and is not mistreated. Lord Fenwood is very elusive and Katria has to practically beg to meet him, which she does under really weird conditions.
As she grew more confident in her new life, I really enjoyed seeing Katria go for what she wants. I especially liked that when Fenwood and Katria started interacting, he encouraged her to overcome her past and complimented her.
Just like any male lead, he has to be a bit of an ass to his female counterpart but the way this played out was hilarious. It’s when we find out his real identity and Katria finds out that Fae are real that this change comes about. It’s how the rest of of his Fae family reacts and calls him out on his bs that had me laughing and loving every moment of a**ery!
Katria continues to impress me with her tenacity and her ability to adjust to having her world turned upside down. As she adjusts to knowing that the Fae are real and finds herself out of the natural world, her personal evolution continues which later makes way for repressed memories to come out. Which in turn help her come to terms with her horrible past.
Once the relationship between Davien and Katria becomes more than casual, the way that Davien continues to encourage her and support her in her journey just had me all drooly for Davien.
When the big big big reveal happens at the end, I absolutely loved loved loved how Davien was not intimidated in any shape or form and continued to be supportive of Katria. Always there for her if she needs him but giving her the space that she needs to figure things out for herself.
Having read A Deal With the Elf King, I absolutely loved the mentions of LUella and Eldas and the elven kingdom. At the end of the book, katria and Davien are preparing for a visit from luella and eldas which is something i would love to see. Also want to see Aruna has grown up to be, if there’s a time lapse between the books.
