I wasn't the type of girl who believed in fairytales, much less tales about faeries, but that changed the day the fae walked into my life.
Staying away from my lakeside hometown was the plan, but Mom died suddenly. Dad said she suffered a stroke after she dug up one of the ancient Native American graves in our backyard.
Creepy, I know. Creepier still, there was no corpse inside the old coffin, only fresh rose petals.
As we made preparations for her burial, unnervingly odd and beautiful newcomers poured into my small town. A coroner with emerald eyes and black hair, much too young for the job. An arrogant blond socialite, who lived to get under my skin. And a tattooed Native man, who wasn't supposed to be alive.
By dying, my mother had inadvertently revived an age-old feud between the fae and the tribe that hunted them.
A feud that was about to tear my world apart.

"Rose Petal Graves is a story of grief, family, mythical creatures and tremendous power, with at its very core the most haunting love story." - ASTRID ARDITI, USA Today Bestselling author of Olympian Challenger
I’m a little torn about this one. I had read the sample and love it and had it on my “to buy” list. When I was given the chance to listen to the audiobook, i was happy because my reading time has been cut down.
While I still like the overall story, i found that i didn’t really like how Catori was impersonated. At times she came across as whiny, stubborn, and arrogant. I’m all for the female lead to be a force to be reckoned with but Catori was not it. At least in the audiobook.
As for the story, it touches on several heavy topics and i think those were handled very well. The additions of fantasy to these heavy topics, makes a worthwhile book.
I think i’ll have to wait for a time where i can read book 2 instead of listening to the audiobook to get a better idea of who Catori is.
